Recognising the quality and origin of Food is the first step towards optimising Health!

Now we got you into your training program. You are training intensely. You are profusely sweating. In a few weeks, you have gotten a little stronger, a little faster but you’re tired afterwards. It’s not just after training but during the day as well. You feel depleted. You bring your best to the training arena but when the same dedication is not matched with your ‘feeding’, your recovery stalls. Physical fitness is just one variable in the equation of overall health. It is important. But the coefficient associated with strategic nutritional choices is higher. Despite the leaps and bounds we have made with food science, the way our digestive system has functioned, is functioning and will function shall remain the same. So whether humans were darting away from sabre-toothed tigers or spearing mammoths – our food was assimilated the same way as it is now – even when your favourite food delivery app delivers your fare. 

We are still genetically programmed to process food ourselves. Our gut microbiome, gut length, enzymatic activity remains more or less the same, with a few exceptions. 

PHILOSOPHY 

Feeding our bodies or ‘following a diet’ is quintessentially only the combination of food and drink we consume regularly to sustain ourselves physically and mentally. 

Optimizing the quality of nutrition does not have to be a chore. There’s a whole world of nutritionally diverse foods out there. 

It is true there will never be a perfect strategy for every individual. However, there are common principles that have been observed/proven to be associated with longevity in several cultures around the world. 

These are:

Whole foods: Sustenance as close to its natural form as possible.

Accessible options: Readily available choices that are minimally processed in order to retain its micronutrient portfolio.

Regulation of energy Intake: Controlling our intake of macronutrients for a stipulated amount of time. The combination of these three tenets is what make up our feeding strategy: W.A.R

W.A.R Nutrition places a lot of emphasis on enhancing your gut health. The food you ingest affects your gut microbiome. The microbial flora in your gut has tremendous influence on the rest of your body: organ function, immunity and even- cognition and intelligence!

So who is this for? This is for those fighting a WAR and desiring to feed their bodies effectively. This is for those trying crash diets and failing. 

What is failing? 

Failing to Sustain = Failing. 

Which brings us to the first step in implement good nutritional habits. Being able to Recognise – Food.

What’s compelling is that being selfless and compassionate about another’s wellbeing and health is synchronous with the obsessive and compulsive disorder that exists among people who partake in physical activity.
